Our story
A house built on restraint.
Okú Noir began as a small roastery with one rule: never rush the cup. Everything since has followed from that.

The name comes from Okú — the volcanic highlands of Cameroon's North-West, where coffee grows slowly in thin, cold air and sweetens for it. Noir is what we do to it: a long, dark, unhurried roast that asks the bean to give up everything it has.
We buy in small lots, directly, and we name the farm on the bag. Where a cooperative sets the price, we pay above it; where a grower is experimenting with a new process, we take the risk with them. It costs more. It is the only way we know that produces a cup worth sitting down for.
Roasting happens twice a week in Yaoundé, in batches small enough that one person can watch every one of them to the end. Beans rest before they are bagged. Nothing is sold past its window.
The café came later, and almost by accident — people kept asking where they could taste it. Now it is the heart of the thing: a warm room, good light, and a counter where nobody is hurried along.
Vision
To craft coffee that honors its origin, sourcing with care, roasting with patience, and serving every cup as a quiet ritual of warmth and intention.

What we hold to
Six values, and no others.
- 01
Craftsmanship
Every batch is small, watched, and tasted. Nothing leaves the roastery unproven.
- 02
Origin
We name the farm, the altitude, the hands. A cup should be able to tell you where it came from.
- 03
Sustainability
Fair prices at the farm gate, less waste at the counter, packaging that returns to the earth.
- 04
Excellence
Restraint is the standard. We would rather do four things faultlessly than forty adequately.
- 05
Warmth & Hospitality
The room should feel like an exhale. You are a guest before you are a customer.
- 06
Guest-Centricity
We build the ritual around you — your hour, your pace, your cup.
